The Fonds de solidarité FTQ is a development capital fund that calls on the solidarity and savings of Québecers to help create, maintain and preserve jobs in Québec by investing in small and medium-sized businesses.
Part of its mission is also to offer its shareholders a fair return.
In the 2001 budget speech, Gouvernement du Québec underscored the importance of Québec’s mining industry and proposed a series of initiatives to support it, with SIDEX playing a key role.
« To support the industry’s efforts to broaden its range of products and diversify its activities, the Government is creating a fund to diversify mineral exploration, in partnership with the Fonds de solidarité FTQ. It is also renewing its financial support to junior exploration companies, which are primarily active in the discovery of minerals with strong market potential. »
